Welcome to my world of twin girls! It's definitely double trouble but I never forget my double blessings!

My Silent Hero

I've never met the biggest hero in my life. She has impacted my world more than she could ever imagine. I see her every day in my daughters' smiles and hugs. I hear her in my children's cries, see her beauty in their gorgeous blue eyes and feel her spirit in their efforts to grow independent at the young age of 2 1/2.

Mother's Day is around the corner and every year I stop and think what a blessing our anonymous donor gave to me when she agreed to donate eggs. What a huge decision for her. Yes, she was paid but I would have paid a much higher price had I known what an awesome gift she was giving me.

She went through all types of shots and medications. Physical tests, emotional and psychological reviews. Interviews. Daily visits to the doctor's office. All for what - $3,000? Can you put a price on a child? On twins?

She is an angel to me. Part of me wants to believe that she didn't do it just for the money - that being a mother herself, she wanted to give the gift of life. She wanted someone else to experience the joy she had in her life. The ups and downs of being a mother.  The overwhelming feeling you have when you become a mommy - knowing you would give your life in a second for theirs.

So thank you, dear donor. I'll never meet you and you'll never see what wonderful miracles you helped to create. But you'll always be my hero.

  1. I love this post. I think she most certainly did it for another woman to know the joy of a child, she had to to go through the things that she did. What a blessing for everyone involved.
