Actually in our house it's "Mama, may I . . .?"
I have no idea where this started - this proper English. I don't generally speak that way and I know for SURE that my husband doesn't. I don't think they are really MEANING to be that polite - but somehow it just comes out and sounds adorable!
They're using this phrase for everything:
Mama, may I have another bite?
Mama, may I play doctor?
Mama, may I watch a video?
Mama, may I sit on the potty?
Mama, may I wear my pink shoes?
And what's even funnier is that when their daddy says he wants to do something with them, they turn to me and say "Mama, can I do this with Daddy?"
Aww, if only it could stay this way!!
